CHORAL SOCIETY
Hutchesons’ Choral Society is always looking for new members to join the choir. There is no audition and people of all abilities are welcome!
Joining the choir is a wonderful way to meet new people while learning and performing fantastic music.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in the Fotheringay Centre,
57 Fotheringay Road,
Glasgow
G41 4NN.
Our seasons run August to November and January to March.
Our first rehearsal night for our Autumn 2024 concert in on Monday 26th August 2024 (doors open at 7.00pm).

The next concert, will be Sunday 24th November 2024 when we will performing an Evening of Baroque Music.
Our annual fees are £80 for existing members including music hire. For new members, a reduced subscription of £50 is payable in the first year.
There are no fees for Students or under 25's.

Tim Rhodes - Musical Director

Tim studied trumpet at the Royal College of Music with Malcolm Smith and David Mason, as well as Baroque trumpet with Mark Bennett. He graduated in 1996 after receiving the Michael Mann’s prize for orchestral playing and the Arthur Somervell prize for Solo Performance.
​
After leaving the College, he played as a freelance trumpet player in London and made appearances with the Royal Opera House, The London Mozart Players, The London Bach Chamber Orchestra and as a regular player in the West End production of Les Miserables. A highlight of his career was when he was selected to play Solo Baroque Trumpet at the reopening of the Globe Theatre.

After 7 years living and working in Bermuda Tim became Assistant Director of Music at RGS Newcastle then after 7 years moved south, first as Director of Music at Framlingham College and then Emanuel School, London. He has directed orchestras at St. John’s Smith Square as well as choirs at Westminster Abbey and Evensong at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Tim has conducted many choral works including Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Rutter’s Gloria, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Poulenc Gloria and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man.

Tim is Director of Performing Arts at Hutchesons’ Grammar School, and is delighted to have the opportunity to re-establish the ties between the school and the choral society.
